We have some big changes happening in the office! While we are sad to see them go, we are grateful for the hard work and dedication of four Mulling Insurance employees who retired earlier this year. Take a moment to read about their time at Mulling, their retirement plans, and help us celebrate and wish them all the best in the next chapter of their lives!
Dawn Horn
Prior to discovering her passion for insurance, Dawn worked in the medical field and as a legal secretary until 1986. She owned her own business, one of her proudest accomplishments, before coming to work for Mulling in 2003. Dawn found her job in the insurance industry most rewarding because she was able to assist people in an area that can be confusing and intimidating for most people. She found it satisfying and gratifying to be able to help others better understand and navigate the world of insurance. After 20 years at Mulling, Dawn shared what she most enjoyed about working there.
"First of all, I love and respect Kevin Mulling. He has helped me through some very difficult times and I have always loved and appreciated the family atmosphere where employees care and are concerned for one another. That attitude trickles down from the top. I also love that Mulling Insurance is based on godly principles and has a godly foundation. That is one of the reasons for the success of the business, and I’m sure it will continue to enjoy success and growth."
Dawn also said she will miss working with her team — Kevin Conrad, Greg Bryan, Tammy, and Karissa — and has enjoyed building relationships with them during her time here. In her retirement, she hopes to travel and spend time with her children and grandchildren.
Dennis Hollingworth
Dennis was a 42-year veteran of the industry, bringing his knowledge and experience to Mulling 13 years ago. Dennis was a Commercial Sales Producer who worked with smaller accounts including churches, non-profits, contractors, garages, and restaurants. Dennis built strong relationships with those he helped in the area of risk management.
Dennis has been an active member of the local community throughout his career. He was involved with President’s Round Table, the Lakeland Chamber, Polk County Builders Association (since ’95), Winter Haven Rotary Club, Kingdom Walk, Better Living for Seniors, and is a Past President of The Sertoma Breakfast Club, a Past President of the Insurance Agents of Polk County and a Deacon at his Church.
In his retirement, Dennis hopes to continue pursuing his love of wildlife photography and traveling around the county!
Jean Burns
Jean Burns was the Special Projects Manager. She was highly organized and always helped around the office whenever she could. She loved her role as a part of the Mulling team.
In her retirement, she plans to spend her time traveling to new and interesting places and will be going on several cruises around the world with her husband and family. She truly enjoyed her fifteen years working at Mulling and will be missed.
Dave Johnson
Dave has spent the last 20 years in the insurance agency, joining Mulling 14 years ago. During his time at Mulling, Dave primarily worked with manufacturers, distributors, wholesale distributors, construction contractors, and furniture stores. As an agent, he understood that the insurance world can be a hard one to navigate, and his goal was to help his clients and people better understand insurance and the important role it plays in their lives. As he educated his clients, he also formed long-lasting, personal relationships with each of them and ensured they knew they were in good hands.
One of Dave's favorite things about working at Mulling was sharing values with the people he worked with.
